Good signs

Even if you're not the type to believe in omens, or "signs from above", or whatever you want to call them, this one might still cause you to raise an eyebrow.

I mentioned earlier that the previous owners left us with extensive instructions and suggestions.  They also left some official paperwork, including a survey done a while back.

Pretty dry stuff, for the most part. Just factual information.

Ah, we're 559 feet above sea level!  I had guessed 565, so I was pretty close!

But the most interesting part was spotted by Christine (of course).  It's at the very bottom of the front page and is not information specific to the lake as such.

The survey began on her birthday and ended on mine.  Hell of a coincidence, eh?

How about that, moms?  Isn't that cool?  Do you remember where you were?

Huh...Yeah, I suppose you probably do, actually...

Shutting 'er down

Well, that's it for this year.  Almost.

Christine and I spent Saturday at the cottage but having heard earlier in the week that we could look forward to multiple consecutive days of sub-zero temperature, the mindset was that the season was pretty well done.  If the Weather Network predictions weren't enough to convince us, waking up to snow flurries on Sunday did the trick.  And don't get me started on the temperature of the toilet seat!

So the fridge is empty and unplugged and the water was being shut off some time during the week (probably done by now).  We still need to drop by for some finishing touches; more food to bring home, boarding the windows, and STILL dealing with leaves but there are no more nights to be spent there in 2012.  And that's OK, we've probably had more time and fun there than we would have expected when we first took possession.  In fact, Christine has a spotless attendance record; every weekend since taking possession on September 7th.

So it's all good.  I'll still post on occasion about stuff I didn't have time to mention and/or to add pictures that I wasn't able to use.  Hopefully it makes the time go faster and at the least it should provide something to look forward to.  Like this:
