Well I'm hear for ya, my brother (or sister). Here are some suggestions/requests:
Booze!: Have you ever said to yourself "I wouldn't want to just bring a bottle of wine. That's so unoriginal!" If you have, then slap yourself across the face immediately on my behalf.
It's done a lot because it works. I'll gladly add your bottle to the collection but I can pretty well guarantee that it won't be around long. If you find blueberry wine, all the better. It's rare, yet inexpensive.
Coffee: After booze, and perhaps in addition to, everyone loves the cottage coffee. It goes fast.Coffee doesn't grow on trees (does it?? I've never looked) but even if it did, it doesn't grow on trees that we have on our property. So feel free to bring cups for our single-serving Keurig. We dig Martinson's, Newman's and Tully's but aren't particularly choosy.
Marley is cool too because company founder Rohan Marley used to play for the Ottawa Rough Riders. Failing that, if it has a Canadian theme, it'll fit right in.
TP: I think we have seven rolls of toilet paper at the cottage as I write this. Sound like a lot? You can never have too much. Would you rather have six rolls too many, or be one square short? Right. Feel free to bring toilet paper.
Water: Sounds weird, but is quite handy. The taps are lake-fed, so water for cleaning food or brushing teeth is always handy. Even if you bring a huge jug filled from your bathtub. Saves us from dipping into our supply.
Sugar: We go through it like crazy, not only because of the coffee, but because hummingbirds dig it (and Christine digs hummingbirds). Cubed is more than fine too.
Peanuts: Feed chipmunks, squirrels, crows and blue jays for a few days in a row, and you'll go through a bag of shelled peanuts in no time. Besides, they're yummy and a good source of protein.
